First Generation Technology
- System Development: Started in 1997
- Market Launch: February 1999
- Objective: To develop a small range of fully integrated hardware-software
configurations that support a stereo photogrammetry approach to 3D capture
- Accomplishment: First productized devices - the S4M, S6M and various prototype
devices to support radiotherapy treatment and mask making applications.
Second Generation Technology
DSP-based Product
- Market Launch: October 2000
- Objective: A rewrite of the foundation software code library and new hardware
architecture to launch a standard product for the healthcare sector.
- Accomplishment: 3dMD industrial strength DSP systems to support several clinical
research projects, which are now being published.
Mirror-based Technology
- Market Launch: 2002
- Objective: To build an advanced software/hardware configuration that
incorporates a compact mirror-based approach.
- Accomplishment: 3dMD productized the 3dMDhand System.
Third Generation Technology
- Market Launch: October 2002
- Objective: Based on customer feedback and economics, 3dMD decided to refocus
its product strategy and provide healthcare professionals with a modular re-configurable
device delivering increased quality and radically simplified production and maintenance.
- Accomplishment: A comprehensive library of robust and flexible code and widespread
customer adoption by top clinical centers and biometric research groups.
The company has taken great pride in its ability to build an industrial strength
code base and understanding of hardware and optics over the years. This knowledge
would not have been possible without a large team of experienced creative minds
working together internationally over many years, valuable customer feedback,
and most importantly, a lot of trial and error by the 3dMD team to determine the
best possible system configurations.
